The Vamps: Wake Up

The Vamps: Wake Up

After the band originated in 2012, The Vamps- aka Brad Simpson, James Brittain-McVey, Connor Ball, and Tristan Evans- have developed an exceptionally substantial number of fans through their pop rock music. Over the course of a couple of years and the release of several albums and singles their music slowly evolved and has grown into the music we love today.

This year the boy's face the fact that they have been a part of the band for just over 10 years but today let us focus on a simpler time. In 2015 The Vamps released their second studio album Wake Up. This album contained a lot of songs which were well-loved by their fanbase. When asking people about what song they remember from that album most would respond with the same answer ‘Wake Up’. Due to this being the most common answer we wanted to look more into the song. When asking them why they remembered that song in particular some responded with "It's the name of the album", but we were more interested in those who told us it was their favourite song. We wanted to pry into why these people favoured this song over the others and we had responses such as "It's the music itself. It's uplifting" or "The lyrics are catchy and fun to sing along to". After listening to the song a few times, we found that the fans of this song were indeed right. It was most definitely uplifting and catchy.

When listening to the overall vibe of the song it was reminiscent of bands like One Direction and 5 Seconds of Summer, giving off an early 2010s feel. Newer releases such as ‘Seat At The Table’ are much slower, emotive, and mellow compared to their earlier music. If there was a choice between listening to their newer music or having them return to their old style, then the latter would be the most preferred choice.
